Food and Diet

Yorkshire Terrier dogs - Yorkshire Terrier food and diet

Small breeds can be fussy eaters, so you must discourage any fussiness by introducing various foods and remove the bowl after 20 minutes if they are messing about with it and not eating. They will soon learn to eat their meal in the first sitting, so to speak, and be keen to eat whatever you put down for them. To stop your dog becoming possessive over its food bowl, add tasty morsels while they are eating, so they get used to your hand and fingers being in their bowl. Your vet and/or breeder can give you advice on the best diet for your Yorkie. Don’t allow your dog to become overweight as this will take you straight to your vet with the various health problems that are present in an overweight dog.
